Senior HR Officer

Our client, a group of companies operating in the hospitality industry, is recruiting a Senior HR Officer to join their growing department. Working closely with the CHRO, the ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all staff adhere to Company rules and regulations.
  • Assisting any employees on any day-to-day jobs that might need an assistant
  • Ensuring that all warnings are issued within the stipulated time frames and making sure that by five (5) days are returned to the HR office for filing when signed by the employee and head of department.
  • Following up on cases until these are solved.
  • Setting up the appointments for maternity and ensuring that the employee provides the company with a written declaration from the doctor and ensure that the necessary forms are filled according to the maternity leave procedure.
  • Liaising with Operations Department with regards to Maternity Leave of employees.
  • Claiming the maternity leave funds annually from the social security department.
  • Conducting exit interviews and liaising with Operations;
  • Managing terminations and informing employees accordingly whilst carrying out necessary due diligence accordingly
  • Ensuring that the employee provides the company with a formal letter of resignation signed by the Head of Department;
  • Explaining the termination procedure to the employee following Maltese legislation;
  • Ensuring that relevant authorities are duly informed about the termination of work permits;
  • Terminating accordingly from Indigo software and JobsPlus electronic website and advise GWU with terminated employees, when instructed;
  • Preparing registered letters as discussed with the Operations department;
  • Issuing letters for employees such as childcare application letters, bank letters and declarations for Jobsplus;
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with the employees and colleagues;
  • Issuing HR-related reports requested by the Chief Human Resources Officer;
  • Liaising with client/s by issuing any charges, warnings and organising any Board of Discipline in the name of the company
  • Ensuring that any injury applications are being processed as per company procedure;
  • Attending any Court sittings when necessary;
  • Ensuring compliance by employees with respect to Health & Safety;
  • Keeping oneself updated with new legislations and regulations;
  • Ensuring that all staff adhere to Company rules and regulations;
  • Attending meetings and liaising with lawyers where necessary;

 Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years on an HR position with similar experience
  • Experience dealing with unions considered an asset
  • Degree in Human resources or relevant qualifications
  • Experience dealing with tribunal considered an asset
  • Familiar with HR Related software
  • Ability to prioritise time accordingly
  • Ability to multitask
  • Conscientious and attentive to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
